Description of Position

The Department of Health Professions is inviting applications for a 9-month, full-time position in the Master of Public Health program. The role of the faculty member will be to teach graduate courses in the Masters of Public Health Program such as, but not limited to:

Introduction to Public Health, Program Evaluation, and courses related to public health leadership and global health.

Position requires onsite and online teaching knowledge and skills. Other responsibilities include representing the program to the general public through participation in professional
organizations, scholarship, evaluation, recruitment, serving on committees and participating in official activities at the program, department, college, and university levels, and other assigned duties. The position reports to the Director of the MPH program as well as the Associate Dean for the Gregg Wadley College of Science and Health Professions.

Responsibilities

Teach onsite and online graduate courses in multiple areas of Public Health from health policy to public health leadership and global health.
Advise graduate students.
Recruit graduate students.
Participate in curriculum, program development, maintenance, and program accreditation.
Engage in professional and scholarly activities, e.g., teaching, discovery, integration, &/or application appropriate to the assistant professor rank, including grant writing,
Research, and dissemination of findings.
Engage in professional, departmental, college, and university activities; and involvement in university, community, and student organization services.
Represent the program to the general public through participation in professional organizations.
Experience desirable attributes include commitment to teaching excellence, the potential to develop a research program that includes graduate students, responsiveness to student needs, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Experience in online teaching preferred.

Education Requirements

A Doctorate degree is required in the preferred field(s) of study: health policy and leadership, public health, global health, health education, or a related field.
ABD considered.
Master in Public Health preferred.
Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with students present.
